The Met Gala 2016 – Event Managers London

The Met Gala 2016 – Event Managers London

Ah the Met Gala – Co-chaired by Wintour, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, and Apple’s chief design officer, Jonathan Ive, is an event where a theme is set and more often than not followed. The main focus of the event? To mark the grand opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts’  opening of the Costume Institutes’ annual fashion exhibit.

Beautiful outfits hit headlines this week as the Met Gala was underway, with a theme of ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in the age of Technology’.

From LED gowns to futuristic head gear, nothing was left unseen! Many stars made an appearance and some made bigger impressions than others. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West appeared wearing matching silver outfits, as well as Kanye wearing blue contacts and won ‘Best Dressed Couple’. Silver proved to be a ‘futuristic’ colour this year as many celebrities went with the safe option and wore silver; except the very bold Lady Gaga – as always! The Princess of Pop turned up to the Met Gala with over-the-top bottle blonde hair, fishnets, a metallic bodice and matching jacket, and crazy platform stilettos. The Kardashian sisters also made an appearance, all wearing silver mosaic designs – again, playing it safe.

It seemed, though, that many stars did not follow the theme at all and social media users made this clear! Beyonce and Taylor Swift were mocked all over Twitter due to their choice of outfit and were questioned upon following the theme at all. Beyonce wore a latex Givency gown laced with real pearls whilst Taylor wore a silver gown and has been compared to a fish’s scales. Not a good choice, ladies! Zayn Malik also appeared wearing a tux with bionic metal arms  accompanied by supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid who wore a simple blue dress. Very, um, futuristic.

Overall, the Met Gala proved to be a successful event full to the brim with named brands, although it seemed as though many celebrities forgot what a smile is as they continue to work on those intense stares. Oh well, there’s always next year!

Some hints and tips from Henna Artist, Emma De Mornay Davies:

Some hints and tips from Henna Artist, Emma De Mornay Davies:

Henna 1
Body art is becoming extremely popular at the moment, especially at festivals and events. There are so many beautiful ways to adorn and decorate your body, you can choose different styles according to your taste and the event you are attending. One of the more ancient arts of decorating the body is Henna. Henna is made of completely natural products which react to the heat of your body to develop a beautiful dark stain over 48 hours. Traditionally Henna was used in Asian weddings to cool and calm the bride, as well as make her look beautiful. It is now being used widely by Westerners that don’t want the permanence of a proper tattoo.

There is a new product on the market called Jagua that produces a beautiful blue/black colour. It looks like a tattoo but is semi-permanent and lasts around 7 days.

Henna 2

Other options are glitter tattoos which look great for evening events or white Henna which is not strictly Henna. It is a mixture of body paint and other ingredients that are safe to apply to the skin that can be used to create beautiful patterns that look like lace. White Henna is ideal for brides that might what an ‘alternative’ garter, it also looks beautiful on dark skin.

UV Body paint is great for the summer for carnival season, festivals or nights out, the fluorescent colours give designs that wow factor!

Bellamy Central had the opportunity to help Crystal and now-hubby Ian Cole create an unforgettable Wedding. We made sure that they were a guest at their own event and not running around making sure the band were on time or that the seating plan was correct. This Wedding Planner in London made sure everything was organised down to the smallest details.

We matched the colour scheme and theme that the happy couple wanted for their big day. We planned all the fine details, set the room and helped with a huge surprise!

Crystal’s daughter had written to Choccywoccydoodah and they created a bespoke cake just for the Cole’s Wedding in London.

They had their first dance on a specially created dance floor.

Event Feedback

After the event is over, as an event planner it is very important to know just how well everything was received by the client and their guests.

One way to do this is to send out a satisfaction survey. There are online surveys on offer such as SurveyMonkey (www.surveymonkey.com), which offers a free basic service with easy to use tools and techniques.

The ultimate outcome of the survey will confirm that every detail was realised – that the client received a quality, professional, caring and well timed event which highlighted all their requirements.

The planner wants to know how well they have performed – and if every detail was considered, the response should be ‘very well indeed!’

Venue Search London

Whatever the event, preparations cannot begin until the venue has been found. And if you do not have a venue in mind, the search can be pretty daunting. Here are a few tips to help you find that perfect setting for your event:

Cost – how much are you willing to spend for this all important venue?

Location – the more you can narrow down where the event will take place, the better. If you focus your search on London, instead of say Southgate in London, then you will have quite a search on your hands!

Availability – hopefully you know the date, so make sure the space is available.

Requirements – Make a list of questions to ask the venue’s guest services. For example,

  • what is the maximum capacity (to accommodate your guests or clients)?
  • what level is it on? if it is not on the ground floor is there a lift available?
  • is car parking available?
  • is there access to the kitchen (for your own caterer)?
  • does it have a late licence so that you can party on into the wee hours?

Compromise – you may not get all the requirements you want under one roof, so make sure you know which ones you are willing to compromise on.

Happy searching..!
